A Landscape Where Gods Might Dwell
中国と北朝鮮の国境に位置する長白山（Changbai Mountain）は、標高2198メートルに広がるカルデラ湖「天池（Heavenly Lake）」を擁する、まさに"天空の聖地"です。今回の旅では、その神秘的な湖と山頂の光景に心を奪われました。
Located on the border between China and North Korea, Changbai Mountain rises to 2,198 meters and is home to a breathtaking caldera lake known as Heavenly Lake. On this journey, I was captivated by the mysterious beauty of the lake and the mountaintop.
湖の水は深く青く、まるで空の色をそのまま映し込んだかのよう。
The water of the lake is a deep, vivid blue, as if mirroring the sky itself.
周囲を囲む険しい山々が、まるで湖を守るように立ちはだかり、その中に浮かぶ島や岩々はまるで神話の舞台のように感じられました。
The rugged mountains surrounding it seem to guard the lake, and the scattered rocks and small islands look like they belong in a myth or legend.
山頂の神殿のような建物
A Temple in the Sky
天池を望む高台には、不思議な形をした建物がひっそりと建っています。通信塔も併設されており、文明の気配がわずかに感じられますが、それでもここはまさに"別世界"。
On a high ridge overlooking the lake, there stands a mysterious building. Next to it is a communication tower — a faint sign of civilization in what otherwise feels like a completely different world.
霧の中に浮かび上がるその姿は、まるで天空の神殿のようでした。
Shrouded in mist, the structure looks like a celestial temple floating in the sky.

Learning About Heavenly Lake
現地には天池の自然環境について詳しく紹介された看板がありました。
At the site, an information board offers detailed facts about the lake's natural environment.
天池の水面面積は9.82平方キロメートル、最深部は373メートル、平均水深は204メートル……
"The surface area of Heavenly Lake is 9.82 square kilometers, with a maximum depth of 373 meters and an average depth of 204 meters…"
2000年には「世界で最も高い場所にある火山湖」としてギネス記録に認定されました。
In 2000, it was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the "highest volcanic lake in the world."
データだけでも圧倒されますが、やはり実際に目の前に立つとそのスケールに言葉を失います。
While the data is impressive, standing before the lake in person renders you speechless — it's simply overwhelming.
