横浜の海に眠る時の記憶——氷川丸を訪ねて Memories Resting in the Sea of Yokohama – A Visit to the Hikawa Maru

横浜の青く澄んだ空と、静かに揺れる海。

その中に堂々と浮かぶ一隻の船——氷川丸。
Amidst it all floats a majestic ship — Hikawa Maru.

その姿は、まるで時の流れを静かに見守っているかのようでした。
Its presence feels like it quietly watches over the flow of time.

氷川丸は1930年に建造され、戦前・戦中・戦後を通して幾多の航海を重ねてきた歴史ある日本郵船の貨客船です。
Built in 1930, the Hikawa Maru is a historic NYK Line cargo-passenger ship that sailed through prewar, wartime, and postwar periods.

太平洋航路を中心に活躍し、戦時中には病院船として命を救い、
It mainly operated along the Pacific route, and during the war, served as a hospital ship, saving countless lives.

戦後は復興の希望を乗せて再び航海を再開。
After the war, it set sail again, carrying hope for reconstruction.

まさに"時代の証人"とも言える存在です。
It is truly a "witness to history."

現在は横浜・山下公園に係留され、船内を見学できる海上博物館として公開されています。
Today, it is moored at Yamashita Park in Yokohama and is open to the public as a floating museum.

船内には当時の豪華な一等客室、機関室、操舵室などが再現されており、

The ship's black hull and vibrant orange mast stood out beautifully.

ふと足を止めて船を見上げると、

そこには過ぎ去った日々の記憶が静かに宿っているようで、
It felt as though memories of bygone days were quietly dwelling within it.

なんとも言えない感慨を覚えました。
I was overcome with a deep, indescribable emotion.
